COMPARISONS OF UVA AND UVB (BLACKLIGHT) OUTPUT OF A VARIETY OF FLUORESCENT LIGHT GLOBES USED FOR CAPTIVE REPTILE HUSBANDRY (uw/cm2)

The following information was gathered from preliminary tests carried out on one or two units of each type. The tests were carried out by the ACT Government Senior Veterinary Officer, Dr Will Andrew in association with Animal Technology students from the Canberra Institute of Technology. The tests were carried out at the ACT Government Veterinary Laboratory, O'Connor, ACT.

The data was collated and presented in the following form by Ron Dencio, Animal Technologist, Canberra. The Environmental data was gathered and collated by Ron Dencio.

All due care was taken under the prevailing conditions to ensure consistency in the testing of all lamps, however no responsibility is accepted or implied regarding the data or its interpretation.

The two "Blacklight" or "Insectocutor" tubes (below) are highly recommended as a UVB source but should be complimented with bright natural light (not direct sunlight) or a source such as the below mentioned "Tri-Phosphor" tube.
